FAQ
I HAVE TORN A MUSCLE WHEN RUNNING, WOULD AN ULTRASOUND SCAN BE USEFUL?
Yes, an ultrasound scan would enable the Physiotherapist to see the extent of the muscle tear which would help guide the treatment and advice moving forwards. This would be completed in the clinic and the Physiotherapist could show you live images of the muscle injury.
WILL THE ULTRASOUND SCAN BE PAINFUL?
No, an ultrasound scan is non-invasive and is performed by applying the ultrasound probe to the skin with the coupling gel. It is a completely safe procedure.
WHO SHOULD HAVE AN ULTRASOUND SCAN?
Diagnostic ultrasound is used to help diagnose injuries for people who have suffered soft tissue injuries (muscle, ligament, tendons) or who have joint pain. It is used alongside the traditional physiotherapy assessment to provide further clarity on the specific diagnosis.
